The Becoming of Garden of Queerdom (2022)

I made this short documentary about the making of Garden of Queerdom (GOQ).

GOQ is a herbal community care project, that centers the LGBTQ+ community and their needs in relation to care. How do we care for ourselves, each other and the earth during a time of (social) injustice? How can the earth (and thus our plant allies) provide a space for us to care and be cared for? How can we shift from hyper individualised relations of care to reciprocal ways of caring?

The documentary gives an insight into the process of the maker Latoyah Burlace and the collaborations and connections that have come from this project.

Linien(un)treue - IBUG streetart festival 2022

Thijs Dickhoff and I traveled to East Germany, Flöha in the summer of 2022 to create together
at a former paper factory in Flöha for the “IBUG Streetart Festival”.

About the project “Linien(un)treue”:

We wanted to create a safe space where we could invite other people to create freely together. During the pandemic, the polarization became bigger also because we did not connect to ‘the other’ that often anymore. As Kae Tempest stated in their book ‘on connections,’ creating together causes us to get a better understanding of the other. So, this was our starting point: creating together as a bridge to understand the needs and boundaries of the other.

But also, we wanted to provide a safe and uncomplicated way to connect to each other again without having to think too much about the social interaction part. After more than 2 years of being under-stimulated, the world that is opening again is quite overstimulating. (This is and was already the case for neurodivergent people.) So, we tied ourselves to each other with a rope that went through a loop in the middle of the installation, put on some music, took a couple of breaths, and started to paint.

Videoclip: Tano Rivers - Pleasure (2021)

Together with Lucie van Collem, I directed the videoclip “pleasure” for Tano Rivers.

The film tells a story about the journey of self-love and acceptance within the turbulent and demanding construct of masculinity.
